About this policy

The Lore of It publishes articles about folklore, symbolism, meanings and beliefs at https://theloreofit.com. This policy explains how personal information is handled when you browse the website or contact us.

If you have a privacy question or want to make a request about your information, please use our contact form.

Information you send us

When you use our contact form, we collect the name, email address and message you provide. We use this information to respond to your enquiry, review corrections and handle any follow-up correspondence.

The form is provided through Fluent Forms. Submissions are stored in our website’s WordPress database and may also be delivered to our email inbox. Our hosting and email providers process this information as part of delivering their services. Please do not include passwords, payment details or other sensitive information in your message.

Website operation and security

Our website is hosted by Hostinger. Hosting and security services may process technical information such as your IP address, browser type, requested pages and the date and time of requests. This information helps deliver the website, investigate errors and protect it against abuse.

We use Cloudflare Turnstile to help protect our contact form from spam and automated submissions. Turnstile processes technical signals, including browser and device information, to assess whether a request is legitimate. You can read more in Cloudflare’s Turnstile Privacy Policy.

Cookies and your choices

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. Similar technologies can also store information on your device. The website uses these technologies for functions such as remembering consent choices and, with permission, measuring how the site is used.

We use Complianz to display our consent banner and store your preferences. You can choose Accept, Deny or View preferences. Functional storage needed to remember your choices remains enabled when optional categories are denied.

You can reopen your choices using the Manage Consent button on the website. You can also delete existing cookies through your browser settings. Deleting consent cookies may cause the banner to appear again. Changing a consent choice does not undo information already processed before that change.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics through Google Site Kit to understand which pages people visit and how they use the website. Analytics can process information such as page views, interactions, referral sources, approximate location, browser and device details. We use the resulting reports to improve our content and website.

Google Analytics cookies are controlled through the Statistics category in our consent banner. These cookies include names beginning with _ga and help distinguish visits and sessions. Their duration depends on the Analytics configuration.

For information about Google’s processing, see Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Advertising-related services

Google advertising and consent-management code may be present on the website as part of our AdSense setup, even when advertisements are not displayed. Google’s consent tools can store information about advertising choices. Where advertising is enabled, it may involve cookies or similar technologies for delivering ads, measuring performance and preventing fraud.

You can review the choices available through our consent controls. Information about Google advertising technologies is available in Google’s advertising privacy information.

Links and embedded content

Our articles link to external sources. When you follow a link, the other website’s privacy policy applies.

If a page includes embedded content from another provider, such as a video, that provider may receive technical information and use cookies when the content loads or you interact with it. Optional embedded services may require consent before loading.

Who receives information

Information may be processed by the service providers needed to operate the website, deliver messages, protect forms, manage consent and provide analytics or advertising services. The relevant services are described above.

Information may also be disclosed where required by law or where necessary to investigate abuse, protect the website or establish and defend legal rights.

International processing

Service providers may process information in countries other than your own, including Canada, the United States and other locations where they operate. Privacy laws and protections can differ between countries. The providers’ privacy policies explain their processing arrangements and applicable safeguards.

How long information is kept

Contact messages and related correspondence are kept for handling enquiries and maintaining relevant records. The appropriate retention period depends on the nature of the enquiry and any legal or security requirements. Copies may also remain in email systems and routine backups until those copies are deleted or replaced.

Consent preferences are currently configured to be remembered for up to 365 days. Analytics data, technical logs and information processed by external providers are subject to the settings and retention arrangements of those services.

Your privacy requests

Depending on the laws that apply to you, you may have rights to request access to personal information, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, restrict or object to certain processing, or withdraw consent. Some requests may be subject to legal exceptions.

Use our contact form to make a privacy request. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity before responding. You may also have the right to raise a concern with the privacy regulator responsible for your location.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services or information-handling practices change. The date at the top shows when this page was last revised.
